How popovers are about to become a whole lot easier to build

Our design systems commonly feature components that show on top of other content: tooltips, date pickers, menus and teaching UI, to name just a few. Proposed web platform features are about to make building these “popovers” a whole lot easier. You might not even need JavaScript. In this talk, you’ll learn all about the upcoming ‘popover’ attribute, when to use modality and access to the top layer.

Hidde de Vries worked in Sanity's developer relations team. Previously, he worked as a front-end developer and accessibility specialist, with (previous) clients including the Dutch government, W3C and Mozilla.

Hidde is a generalist with over a decade of experience building websites. His focus has been mostly on end users: web accessibility, performance and usability.

For the last five years, more of his work has been about teaching and helping teams. From workshops about accessibility, CSS and design systems to accessibility audits and conference talks.
