About the Front Conference Zurich from Front Conference Zurich on Vimeo.
Designers and developers have a common mission - to create amazing front-end experiences. But it isn't always easy for these two tribes to communicate; they must learn each other's languages, share perspectives, and find compromises that work best for both parties.
To bridge this gap between design and technology, in 2011 we founded the Front Conference: Where Design Meets Technology! Our speakers cover everything from Zapier automation tools to Zeplin user interface affordances so attendees can make their projects even more kickass!
To build a kick-ass frontend, we rely on each other: Designers on developers, and developers on designers. But it’s often difficult to work together; we need to learn each other's language, understand each other’s priorities and have to be willing to make compromises that serve both.
That’s why in 2011 we came up with a conference for everyone involved from concept to implementation of a frontend, and we gave it the tagline “Where design meets technology”. The goal was to bring both sides together in talks and workshops ranging from Angular to Zapier and from Affordance to Zeplin.
By staying on the cutting edge of both design and technology, we’ve since evolved to be the largest web conference in Switzerland. Our interest has widened to reflect the increasing maturity of the industry. We now also deal with managerial topics like design leadership, tech governance and UX strategy.
Our attendees range from juniors to managers, and we attract key speakers to come to Zurich and share their knowledge in talks & workshops. The conference has become a place to learn and network, and we have many loyal professionals who come back every year.
Organization
With the “Front Conference Association” as organizer and "Shortbread" as legal body, we strive to develop the relationship and exchange between local and international professionals interested in frontend technologies and UX, hereby emphasizing the importance of the according fields and the relevance of Zurich as a major IT hub.
We see the conference as a community event and a great opportunity to meet and learn from brilliant people. That’s why we try to keep ticket prices a low as possible to make an event that is affordable for everyone. On top of that we have live stream of both tracks and all talks and offer the videos online still during the conference.
Code of Conduct
The short version: Be respectful towards other people, respectfully ask people to stop if you are bothered, and if you can’t resolve an issue contact staff. If you are being a problem, it will be apparent and you’ll be asked to leave. Read the long version.
