The future of React and perhaps all web apps

10 years ago, the idea of a "single page app" barely existed outside of Twitter and Facebook. Now they're trivial to make with tools like React, Angular, Vue, etc. Web apps went in this direction for some good reasons but we also lost some fundamental Web concepts along the way. Now, at least in the React community, we're starting to see the pendulum swing back in the direction of placing more importance on the server. Is this a return to the old days? No. The next generation of web apps will be a hybrid of old practices we lost, and newer practices which are still amazing. You might say, we're "remixing" the old with the new!

For this talk, I'll cover what the original goals were for SPA's vs Server Rendering our apps. We'll discuss the lost art of Server Rendering and its importance. Then we'll end with a brief introduction to Remix - one of the most popular and anticipated React Frameworks for 2022.

About

👋 Hi, I'm Brad Westfall and I've been working in the web industry since 1999. I love getting involved in the development community, attending meetings and event, or even creating communities now and then. I also enjoy teaching web development! I've had the pleasure of teaching and consulting with bootcamps for the next generation of web developers. Now days I teach the biggest tech companies in the world at ReactTraining.com. I've always had a passion for CSS and JavaScript especially. The server? I suppose I've done that too but really I enjoy making user interfaces come to life.
