Design Responsibility in an Age of Invisible Consequences. AI is not a fixed reality we must adapt to. Today’s dominant AI systems are shaped — and constrained — by the values, incentives, and infrastructures of big tech, while obscuring significant social and environmental costs. By designing for AI as it is, we often end up reinforcing these power structures and accept their consequences as a new reality, while the true price is kept out of the conversation.

This is not about rejecting AI. Instead, it enables a fair discussion about the current AI reality and its consequences and comes with an invitation to actively shape the AI we want: systems that are fair, transparent, sustainable and centered on human sovereignty rather than corporate control.
