Designing intersections before designing interactions
We talk about interaction design, product design, and service design. In all cases, we are Intersections Designers first—how we work with engineering, content, research, marketing, and sales—these intersections serve as the foundation of our collective success.
We must build new dialogues of how we design these intersections—the dialogues of our struggles—are we designing for people vs profits, sales vs systems, production vs maintenance, them vs them.
We design the intersection of —Digital assets of an org for the code, artwork, message, and the dashboards —Product, organization, business, and the system —The physical world around us, and the socio-cultural interactions that support us
We need to storify these experiences of designing intersections—to open new doors for us to see our work in the lens of system thinking. The stronger intersections’ design builds confidence, brings assurance, fosters speed, and the right direction in how we work together
